About Us

Welcome to Bias Designs, a family business based in Tasmania, Australia.

Like many families, we use the microwave every day, for soups, leftovers, porridge, noodles and quick lunches. But there was one problem we kept running into: hot bowls, plates and dishes were awkward and uncomfortable to handle.

Tea towels slipped. Oven mitts were bulky. And more than once, hot ceramic and glass led to burnt fingers.

For many years we had used fabric bowl holders that we sewed at home - in fact we gave a lot to family and friends as gifts.  But the fabric often had food spill out of the bowls and the holders had to be washed.  They got stained and would eventually wear out.

So we asked a simple question: could there be a better way to safely handle hot dishes straight from the microwave?

That question led to our first product, the Bowl Cozy. It has since grown into a practical range of kitchen helpers: Bowl Cozies, Big Bowl Cozies, Plate Cozies and our new Dish Cozies (launching October 2026).

Made to a high standard

Every Cozy is made from premium LFGB-certified food-grade silicone. They are microwave safe, dishwasher safe, durable, reusable and easy to clean. We make them with Lanxin, our manufacturing partner in China. We have a strong, established working relationship with them, which means consistent quality from one order to the next - in fact we get complimented on our quality on a regular basis.

Our goal is simple: to create thoughtful, practical kitchen products that make mealtimes safer, easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you for supporting our family business.
